Niewiadów is a company and a town where in 1920 a decision was made to build a factory called Polskie Zakłady Chemiczne "Nitrat".
A joint stock company was established, which commissioned the construction of the factory to an Italian company based in Milan.
The construction was completed in 1923. Taking advantage of the prospering economic situation in Niewiadów, the production of TNT and artificial fertilizer - superphosphate was started.
The fertilizer was made on the basis of nitrating acids, that left over from the production of the explosive.
At the beginning of World War II, all of the company's assets were confiscated, and the equipment and installations were dismantled and taken away by German companies.
In mid-1942, the plant was taken over by the German company "J. Heissner” which produced explosives. The new owner launched the disarming of ammunition from many European countries.
TNT was smelted from disarmed missiles and bombs for reuse.
After the liberation, intensive reconstruction and expansion of the plant was carried out. The company operated under the name of "Zakłady Przemysłu Organicznego - NIEWIADÓW".
Several production and auxiliary facilities were built. This ensured the normal production activity and created conditions for further development of the Plant.
In 1951 it was renamed Wytwórnia Chemiczna Nr 13, and in 1956 it started to function as the Wytwórnia Wyrobów Precyzyjnych.
In the 1950s, among many concepts, the company's management made a decision to produce:
- Christmas decorations,
- folding kayaks,
- melamine household goods.
In the mid-1960s, the production of mechanized home equipment as well as caravans and luggage trailers was started.
These products, apart from very large production for the army, have become a guarantee of the proper and harmonious development of the company for almost 20 years.
In the seventies, the company operated as Zakłady Sprzętu Domowego i Turystycznego – PREDOM PRESPOL, and in the early eighties the company adopts the name Zakłady Sprzętu Precyzyjnego "NIEWIADÓW" S.A.
In the nineties, as a result of ministerial decisions to relocate production for the needs of the Armed Forces to other plants in this industry, in Niewiadów there was a significant drop in the value of production, which, among other things, led to the bankruptcy of the company in 2011.
However, thanks to the prudent, well-thought-out activities of the Syndic, the company, despite its bankruptcy, continued its production, maintaining all ranges of production.
Many companies have been established on the premises of the Plant, employing more workers than at the time of bankruptcy.
On August 1, 2019, the Organized Part of the Enterprise - Special Production of the Zakłady Sprzętu Precyzyjnego "NIEWIADÓW" S.A. in liquidation bankruptcy, bought - as a result of a court tender - WORKS 11 Sp. z o.o., the company from Katowice.
